ASSISTANT PASTOR


Responsible to:
Lead Pastor
Responsible for: Volunteers (potentially staff)
Working primarily alongside: Directional team/Staff team/Volunteers
 

Purpose & Objectives

• To help lead the church in its mission to help people find and follow Jesus
• To provide strategic leadership in certain identified areas of ministry
• To support other areas of ministry as identified

Primary Responsibilities

1. Multi site point leadership (40%)
To point lead one of our newly emerging sites galvanising volunteers and working collaboratively with central staff to help build and grow the site.

2. Point lead specific ministry areas (30%)
These will be identified with the team and based on the person passions, interests and experiences as well as the need within the team and the wider church. They could include ministries and actives such as Alpha, discipleship, groups, events etc.

3. General ministerial duties (30%)
Part of the teaching team.
Weddings, funerals, dedications etc.
Wider strategic leadership development.

Terms

• This role is a Full Time role on a flexible contract (including some evenings and weekends, Sundays is generally a working day, TOIL will be worked out with line manager).
• Annual leave 25 days per year plus bank holidays.
• Salary level is depending on experience – circa £26K.

Person specifications

• This person should have a dynamic and personal relationship with Jesus and display good self-leadership; being able to prioritise their own health and well being.
• This person should be able to demonstrate they are passionate and committed to building a church that reaches unchurched people.
• This person should have a level of theological training and experience or be willing to undertake that training (ordained, MIT, other relevant experience).
• This person should possess the core characteristics we look for in leadership, namely they should be; Humble – Teachable – Curious – Intentional.
• This person should work well in a team and display emotional and relational intelligence.
• This person should be flexible and adaptable.
• This person should have a level of IT skills as required.
