COVID19 – We are continuing to run the Equip programme throughout the COVID19 crisis and applications remain open for 2021-22, we do ask that students be flexible and open handed as we adapt the programme to be safe and adherent to Government guidelines whilst maximising the impact of the course.
The Equip Programme is designed for people who want to give a year of their life to be challenged, with a view to exploring what God might want for them in the future.
We passionately believe in investing in the next generation of leaders and our ethos is that we want something for you rather than something from you.
How is Equip different to other gap years?
Through meeting with our assigned staff members, we will create a bespoke timetable, which will give you opportunities to experience and grow within your chosen interests. We work with each individual, alongside mentors, to create a year that has a balance of opportunities, responsibility, growth, development and input.
What are the core components of the gap year programme?
To the workings of a church, ‘behind the scenes’, in key meetings and conversations.
To the leaders of a church, on the job but also as you travel locally, nationally and at times, internationally.
To being part of a multisite church team, understanding how one church exists in multiple locations.
In your primary area of interest and passion.
In other areas across the church and community.
In dealing with the challenges of leading a church in a 21st century context.
Responsibility in leading and overseeing projects and small groups.
Weekly input at staff meetings.
Weekly training and development delivered by experienced communicators and teachers.
Opportunities to study at Regents Theological College and be placed with us as part of a degree.
You will grow as a person.
Your character will grow, as will your relationship with God.
You will grow in your understanding of church and God’s Kingdom.
You will be equipped for whatever God wants for you for your future.

You can choose from a combination of (or a focus on) any of the following areas:

How will it work practically?
The gap year can be either part time or full time.
We look for a minimum of 9-12 months, usually starting in September.
We can adapt the programme to include placements with other organisations/churches in the UK and overseas. (We already have students from Regents Theological College who are pursuing context based study with us, as well as students from Youth For Christ’s gap year programme placed with us.)
We will provide a host home for accommodation and meals.
We will provide a personal mentor/coach for you during your gap year.
We will provide monthly reviews, and appraisals half way through the programme and at its end.
We will have a midyear retreat, as well as monthly Equip Development Times (EDT), where you will receive input from Lifecentral Staff and external speakers.
(There may be an option of applying for a second gap year.)
What do I need to do?
Our course fees are £500 which is for every student who wishes to join Equip. This covers your training, expenses, resources and the mid year retreat.
If you need us to provide you with accommodation then the cost is £1000 for the year which covers food and accommodation. The accommodation may be shared or in a host home with a family from the church.
