Friday – Forgiveness Changes Things

Luke 23:32-43 (key verse: 34)

It is all too easy for us to gloss over the torture and inhumanity of a crucifixion, but if we take a moment to imagine the horror of the cross, we will begin to grasp the amazing love Jesus has for each one of us and what it cost him to pay the price for all we have done wrong. The prayer, “Father, forgive them,” was prayed during excruciating pain and suffering. Jesus died for everybody. There is nothing we have done that cannot be forgiven, empowering us to live guilt-free, hope-filled lives.

As Christians, we are challenged to forgive those around us. We often feel hurt by peoples’ words or actions but when we forgive others, we are free to live without carrying bitterness in our lives.

‘If we freely admit our sins when His light uncovers them, He will be faithful to forgive us every time.’

(1 John1:9 TPT)

Take some moments to ask God to shine His light and uncover any hidden areas in our lives. Where do we need to either be forgiven or to ask for someone’s forgiveness? Forgiveness will change how we are and who we are.
